Avex Air Training has been an owner or operator of aircraft since 1965. Over the years the company has been involved in flying training, charter, crop-spraying, aerial survey, aircraft sales and aircraft maintenance. At its peak in aviation, Avex owned 62 aircraft and employed 190 full-time people.
In recent years Avex has made an effort to diversify and as a result it is concentrating its aviation operating activities in aircraft management and aircraft charter.
Avex currently offers clients the use of a range of aircraft including Piper Navajos, Piper Chieftains, Cessna Conquests and a Hawker 125 jet aircraft which are based at Johannesburg International, Rand or Lanseria International Airports.
The bulk of the charter work is conducted in the turbo-prop Cessna Conquest and Hawker 125 jet aircraft. However, Avex is able to offer its clients other options ranging from the piston engine Beech Baron, the turbo-prop King Air to the DC-9 airliner.
The Avex client base includes major transport and logistics companies, mining houses, tourists and corporate executives from across the business spectrum.
Avex prides itself in offering its clients personalised service at very competitive rates.
